Sustainable Toothbrush
With an estimated 23 billion toothbrush discarded yearly and the resulting million of pounds of plastic wastage, this project aims to reduce the plastic waste while also improving the ergonomics of the toothbrush with a new concept idea.
We were approached for a concept ideation request, to explore possible concepts that could potentially change how people view the everyday consumer products. To change perspective, we didn't add a camera or artificial intelligence into our toothbrush, neither could does our concept jets water or monitor wear through RFID.
We believe less is more and doing things the traditional ways are better for some.
Our Approach:
The toothbrush features a 3 part system that consists of a replaceable bristle head, a stainless steel spine and a cork handle that comes in two sizes.
The bristle head are easily replaceable with a straightforward press fit process. They come in 3 different colors each representing the different hardness of the bristles.
The cork handle is also easily replaceable, with the two sizes to choose from, so as to give users the best ergonomic fit.
This design allows use to retain and reuse all of the toothbrush except the bristle head which will only require replacement every few months once worn.
